Seeker Sensitive Churches – Willow Creek

For an interesting, but not so surprising news/confession coming from Willow Creek – see the following article: http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=26768

I believe that my former professor David Wells (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0802837131/ref=nosim/bestbookbuys00) pointed out some of the weaknesses of their theology a long time ago (in his book No Place for Truth).  I wonder where the church of Rick Warren fits in this picture.  I am afraid – his church is on the same wavelength…?

    Indeed – it would be interesting to hear the side of someone who goes regularly to Rick Warren’s church. Anybody out there??

    First i want to start off with a nice passage from the Bible: “It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the Gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sicerely, ,supposing they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter ? The impportant thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.” (Philippians 1:15-18 NIV)
    Wow, great words from apostle Paul – Christ is preached, that’s the esence.

    1. I dunno what to say,
    At least i give em props for stepping out and confessing; at least theu try to spread the Gospel;i dunno we’ll let God decide on judgement day who are the bad apples;
    Look at TBN some are doing if for false motives; But Christ is preached.

    2. Confesssing is a great thing; a litle example: In Romanian they are opening the files of the secrete Police finding out who spied and collaborated for them. Many of the clergy from the orthodox Church did, and are very upset about the reading of the files. Only one came forth and confessed and apologized.The rest were cowards.

    3. Look at many other so called “good” churches, that profess they have the good doctrine, many pf them are dying out , ending up to sell they church because they shrunk, or worse selling pumpkins for “Helloween” to pay their bills. Why did their congregation left? Was it because they were too strict, and people like to be too wild these last days? I doubt it. I think it’s because they didn’t find the love of God. These so called conservative churches are so conservative that they repell instead of attracting. They just don’t have God’s love. Many of them are straight out hypocrites. They proclaim themselfes Christians, but weekdays they are Minuteman, with guns “protecting” the Southern borders. Where is the love?

    4. We hope there will be repentance. They will change their ways. There’s a lot to debate but we’ll let God do the work. Rick Warren’s church has a good group of Romanians going there- they are involved in serving there, and fellowship and Bible study does occur there too.

    The important thing is, Christ is preached. Amen!
